We're working with Atlas Preparatory School in Colorado Springs, not far from Bitsbox headquarters in Boulder, Colorado. This school is a free public charter school supporting students in a community facing economic challenges. They are dedicated to providing a rigorous academic experience that sets students up for whatever path they choose in life, be it a traditional 4-year college, an apprenticeship program, or other careers. They go beyond "just academics": Atlas educates with an additional focus on character and community development.
Atlas knows that students don't stop being students when they go home, and they partner with families and community organizations to create an experience that extends beyond the classroom. They provide a food pantry, free bussing, school supplies, and extracurricular activities to support students and their families. They bring this significant impact to many diverse students, reaching approximately 1225 students across 13 grades. 94% of students are eligible for free or reduced lunch, 92% identify as racial or ethnic minorities and over 40% are English Language Learners.
